Welcome to my media appearance page. I hope to engage an audience that extends beyond the discipline of Anthropology encouraging public discussion around the issues I study. I hope to contribute to a Public Anthropology that would engage and encourage the participation of the broader public. In this manner, I strive to make my work accessible to the larger public in TV, Print and Online media. I have been asked to share my expertise about the history of foodstuffs, the fifth taste of umami and unusual Japanese food practices.
Here are some of my appearances:

This article in French examines the fifth basic taste.
Strangers in Their Own Land: The Cuisine of Koreans in Japan @ Sake Today

Finding Traditional Food in Japan @ The Historical Cooking Project

A la Recherche du gout @ Quebec Science
Popular science special number on taste. My contribution examines how taste lives as much in the mind as on the palate.
